On Tuesday, June 16th Allies for Racial Justice hosted an open webinar with Kansas City area medical professionals discussing how COVID-19 is impacting people within their areas of specialty healthcare.

Panel members included: 

Dr. Rex Archer is Director of Health for the City of Kansas City, Missouri. He serves on the executive committee of the Public Health Accreditation Board. He is responsible for safeguarding the public health of nearly half a million people in KC proper and a daytime population of almost one million. Dr. Archer holds a medical degree and an advanced degree in public health.  He continues to work with religious/faith-based community organizations to address and improve social and environmental factors that impact public health.

David P. Lisbon, MD is an emergency medicine physician in Kansas City who has been in practice for more than 20 years. He diagnoses and treats patients with life-threatening conditions such as heart attack, drug overdose, shock, or major trauma. He is an Associate Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine at KU Medical Center and Fellow of the American College of Emergency Physicians.

Dr. Tiffany B. Simpson, MD is a neonatologist doctor with Sunflower Neonatology Associates located in Overland Park, KS. She specializes in providing care for high-risk and prematurely born babies and full-term infants, typically in the neonatal unit of a hospital.  She works in conjunction with the mother’s obstetrician, ensuring a healthy transition from the womb to the world. Dr. Simpson is Board Certified in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine.

Steven W. Stites, MD is Professor of Medicine, Executive Vice President and Chief Medical Officer of the University of Kansas Health Systems, and Vice Chancellor for Clinical Affairs of the University of Kansas Medical Center. His medical focus covers the health of the respiratory system (airway, lungs, respiratory muscles) and includes everything from asthma to tuberculosis to COVID-19.

The webinar was moderated by DrNicole D. Price, CEO of Lively Paradox, a leadership development and consulting company and creators of a highly successful diversity and inclusion workshop that teaches participants how to lead with purpose, passion and prowess.
